Beating June Gloom
Our monthly meeting last Saturday wasn’t as well attended as usual. Instead of twenty to thirty there were fourteen of us. The rest, truly devoted hookers, were demonstrating in very hot weather at the Lavender Festival in Cherry Valley. Thanks Sandy and crew for doing so much to publicize and keep our art alive.
Our group was small, but the day was eventful. Darlene’s Marrying Wool presentation was amazing, looked easy enough for us non-dyers to try, and as always with her programs, was fun. (Oh, and thanks Darlene – I still can’t get “Going to the Chapel” out of my brain.)
We looked at Brenda’s wool – all 40+ bags – and thought, “We will never sell all this.” But, we were wrong. By the end of the day, 2/3 was gone and the rest safely stored. Our plan is to make what is left available at our meetings and at the Harvest Hook In on October 8th.
Harriet isn’t counting years any more. In any case, Jean gave her a birthday cake and we celebrated her 90+. Best wishes for many more, Harriet!
While all this was going on, we consumed plenty of delicious snacks, chatted, and hooked the day away.
