MEETING NOTICE

“People who wonder if the glass is half full or half empty miss the point. The glass is refillable.” Unknown

August Program: Free hooking day! Yes, our program calendar shows us as ‘off’ in August, but we’re meeting anyway! There will be a beginner class in progress during the meeting… be sure to say hello and welcome these brand new hookers!

!!!Workshop Update!!! If you can’t take advantage of the Friday, October 7 chapter-member only, free-pattern class with Cheryl Bollenbach, you might consider attending her Saturday, October 8 “open class” – meaning you may select a pattern from her website (www.cdbstudios.com), bring any other pattern, or bring a ‘work in progress’ on which you need expert advice. Fine or wide cut! This will be a fun, dynamic class! If you plan to attend Saturday’s class and select one of Cheryl’s patterns, or want her expertise in developing a color plan for another pattern, get in touch with her ASAP, either via her website (hold cursor on the HOME tab and there’s a Contact form dropdown) or by email at cdboll@msn.com so you can provide her with more info, and be sure to let either Jennie or Sandra know you plan to register for the class! These classes are only $35, and Cheryl is a McGown certified teacher!

Reminder: We need your contributions to the Christmas-in-October sale table at the workshop! If you have questions, just ask Sandra or Jennie!!

****Raffle Baskets****Items needed: Dye stuff (dye, measuring cups, spoons, tongs, dyeing books, rubber gloves, swatches), wool, Rug Hooking books, patterns, color wheels, books on color, sheep or wool related items, lavender or cedar sachets, a hook you don’t use, a kit you don’t think you’ll ever finish…use your imagination! NOTE: We also need lots of chocolate, both milk and dark, and brown tone wools to go with it, but please don’t bring the chocolate until the September meeting!!

!!Blue Light Special!! We still have some wool Brenda Gray cleared out before her move, and it needs to be sold! It will be available at the meeting, grab bag style, for only $5 per bag! You won’t find a more economical way to build your stash!

Aprons: Darlene is having aprons custom-made for our chapter. They’ll be black, featuring our chapter name and a hook embroidered on the front. See Darlene to reserve yours now…available as early as September!

!!Reminder!! Darlene has arranged a 2017 field trip to the Miracle Springs Resort in Desert Hot Springs over the Martin Luther King weekend of January 13, 14 and 15. We have a block of 10 rooms reserved with two queen beds each. Saturday will be hooking; the rest of the time will be on your own to relax, explore and hang out with friends. More info (such as the very reasonable room rates) to come!!

Shout out!! Check out the most recent (August/September) ATHA Magazine! Members Bonnie Applebee, Carole Nobile and Dorothy Sprouse had their rugs featured on pages 93 & 94 in this special primitive rug issue!
