“CALIFORNIA’S FIRST”

CHAPTER OF ATHA (ASSOCIATION OF TRADITIONAL HOOKING ARTISTS)

September 17, 2016

MEETING NOTICE

“The best wisdom is earned through experience, particularly mistakes.” Sophia Amoruso

September Program: Workshop preparations! This is our last meeting before the OCTOBER 8 workshop!

!!!Workshop Reminder!!! If you aren’t taking the Friday, October 7 chapter-member only, free-pattern class with Cheryl Bollenbach, consider attending her Saturday, October 8 “open class” – meaning you may select a pattern from her website (www.cdbstudios.com), bring any other pattern, or bring a ‘work in progress’ on which you need expert advice; either fine or wide cut! This will be a fun, dynamic class! If you plan to attend Saturday’s class and select one of Cheryl’s patterns, or want her expertise in developing a color plan for another pattern, get in touch with her ASAP, either via her website (hold cursor on the HOME tab and there’s a Contact form dropdown) or by email at cdboll@msn.com so you can provide her with more information. These classes are just $35 each, and Cheryl is a McGown certified teacher!

santa**Note**: There are still a few seats available in the Friday, October 7 chapter-member only class! It will be on the Autumn Splendor pattern. Contact Sandra Grasso or Jennie Reece to sign up. If you’d like, bring your backing material (at least 20” x 24”) to Judy Atkinson – she’ll trace the pattern on backing for you!

****Raffle Baskets**** Don’t forget to bring your chocolate this month (either milk or dark) and any chocolate colored wool to go with it, if you can part with!

If you have items to share for other baskets, bring them with you to the meeting. We’ll have the cellophane bags and raffia ties to finish completed baskets, so please bring them with you, too!

FYI: If you have hooking related items you wish to sell at the workshop, keep them with you at your table, and make sure to label them with your name and the price.

Kits and Yardage: Bonnie Applebee will be bringing some to sell at our chapter meeting!

Aprons: Darlene had aprons custom-made for our chapter, featuring our chapter name and two hooks embroidered on the front. See Darlene to purchase…available NOW for only $22.00!

!!Reminder!! Darlene has arranged a 2017 field trip to the Miracle Springs Resort in Desert Hot Springs over the Martin Luther King weekend of January 13, 14 and 15. We have a block of 10 rooms reserved with two queen beds each. Saturday will be hooking; the rest of the time will be on your own to relax, explore and hang out with friends. More info (such as the very reasonable room rates) to come!! This trip is open to other chapters.
